Author To Sign Books At
Lakewood
Library Feb. 26
LAKEWOOD – Jason Bussman, a creative writing professor at the State University at Fredonia, will discuss his first book, “Fumble: A Memoir, Just a Dad Trying Not To Drop The Ball” at the Lakewood Memorial Library at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, with support from the Good Neighbor Bookstore. The book is a collection of personal essays on Bussman’s experiences as a father.

Cooperative Extension To Host Webinar Feb. 27
Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Southwest New York Dairy, Livestock & Field Crops Program is hosting a free webinar for agricultural and livestock producers scheduled at noon Thursday, Feb. 27. “Managing Mycotoxins: A Guide for Livestock Producers” will be presented by Katie Callero and Katelyn Miller in conjunction with guest speakers John Winchell from Alltech and Dr. Alex Navarro from Perry Vet. Information that will be covered includes managing the bunk to reduce mold/mycotoxin production, the use of inoculants, recognizing and managing symptoms in cows exposed to mycotoxins and tolerance levels for dairy and other livestock species. Recent discussions with farmers in the Southwest New York region sparked the inspiration for this webinar. To Meet Feb. 28
MAYVILLE – The North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District board will hold a special meeting at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the district sewer plant, 50 Clark St., Mayville. The meeting is open to the public.

Hospital Auxiliary Launches
Membership Drive
WESTFIELD – The Westfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is launching its 2025 membership drive. The auxiliary works to provide Westfield Memorial Hospital with funding to support equipment and services. Those who have received a new membership card can mail it back. Those who want to become a new member can contact any auxiliary board member. The Auxiliary’s 2024 projects included: Christmas decorations throughout the hospital; blood pressure screenings; new flooring in the PT gym; new shed for buildings and grounds equipment; wheelchair accessible scale for PT department; new chairs for waiting rooms and funds for hospital landscaping. Financing for the above projects was made possible by community support of the following projects: annual membership drive; SHRED-IT event; raffle tickets for dining at local restaurants; Christmas in the Village basket giveaway; giveaways for the Lottery Tree and sales of ornaments, mugs and magnets.
