Fire & Ice Celebration Begins Thursday
CELORON – The annual Fire & Ice Celebration hosted by the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel to raise awareness for and to benefit the Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, 10 Dunham Ave., Celoron. The fundraiser features more than 40,000 pounds of ice carved into sculptures, ice bars, and martini luges, adult playgrounds punctuated by fire pits, a fully stocked bar and local wines and beer, hors d’oeuvres, chili and chowder and fireworks. Tickets are $43.51 a person and a portion of proceeds benefits the Child Advocacy Program.
Party Affiliation Changes Due By Friday
Voters who want to change their party enrollment before the June Primary must submit their request to the Board of Elections by 5 p.m. Friday. A change of enrollment received by the BOE no later than Feb. 14 or after July 1 would be effective immediately, per Election Law §5-304(3). Changes submitted through the state DMV must be made by Thursday, Feb. 13, in order for the DMV to transmit the data to the Board of Elections timely. The Board of Elections office is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To meet statutory requirements for the last day to receive political party changes, the Board of Elections will remain open until 5 p.m. Friday. Voters wishing to change their political party need to complete a new Voter Registration Form, designating their new political party choice. Forms can be submitted in-person or via proxy at the Board of Elections office located at 7 N Erie St. Mayville, NY 14757. Voter registration forms are available on line at www.votechautauqua.com and at any local municipal office, library, post office or at the Board of Elections. Online options include the state Online Voter Registration portal or the Department of Motor Vehicles MotorVoter portal. Links to both websites are available at www.votechautauqua.com.
Lakewood-Busti, Jamestown Democrats To Hold Dinner Sunday
BUSTI – The Lakewood-Busti and Jamestown City Democrats invite all local Democrats to attend a dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Mount Moriah Lodge, 3485 Baker St. Ext., Busti. Donations will be accepted at the door. There will also be a silent auction.The meal includes spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert.
County Agricultural, Farmland Protection Board To Gather
MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in Room 331 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville. The public is welcome to attend, and the meeting will also be available by videoconference at chqgov.webex.com/meet/sharpl. BPU Announces Presidents’ Day Schedule
The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day. The Customer Service Office will reopen for business at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18. Garbage and recycling will be picked up on its regular weekly schedule with no collection changes. The recycling product for February 17-21 is paper. Customers who need to pay bills on the holiday may do so online at www.jamestownbpu.com by clicking “My Account” on the home page. They may also make payments at 716-661-1660, ext. 3. Customers may leave checks or money orders (no cash) after hours in drop-off boxes located in the BPU Customer Service Office parking lot down the D driveway, 92 Steele Street; outside City Hall on Tracy Plaza; and inside the vestibule of the Jamestown Police Department entrance on Second Street.Customers may call 716-661-1640 after business hours to report trouble in all BPU Divisions. During business hours, utility trouble may be reported to 716-661-1660.
Prendergast Library To Host Dino Bone
Programs
The James Prendergast Library will host Dino Bones programs from Feb. 19 through Feb. 22 with kits provided by the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System. Those interested can assemble their own dinosaurs from foam dinosaur bones. Dino bone programs will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Feb. 19 for children up to 5 years of age in the library’s community room after early learning story time. Older children can take part from Feb. 20-22 during Makerspace times for children ages 6 to 12.
