Concert Series

Continues Friday

On Friday, the Jazz Concert Series at First Covenant Church, 520 Spring St, Jamestown, will feature An Evening with Bill Ward and John Cross at 6:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public with a free will offering. The concert will feature Chautauqua Music Hall Of Fame vocalist/guitarist, Bill Ward.. In 2002, Ward founded the Mayville Bluegrass Festival, which has garnered international attention, featuring artists such as Vassar Clements, Peter Rowan, Claire Lynch, Tony Rice, and Norman Blake. His most recent CD, “The Dock” is a collection of his original songs with many references to life in Chautauqua County. Ward has been named “Artist of the Year” by the Chautauqua County Arts Council, “Promoter of the Year” for his festival and collaborative work, and “Artist in Residence for Jazz Contribution to Christian Praise” at Chautauqua Institution where he presented several concerts at the amphitheater with Loretta Lynn, Diamond Rio and Waylon Jennings. Joining Ward will be John Cross, who will accompany on flute, ewi, clarinet and saxophones. Cross and Ward have performed together for 40 years and will share many of their favorite songs that they play while touring in the Caribbean in February including a variety of songs from blues, bluegrass, gospel, island jazz, Appalachian jazz, and Texas swing.

Outdoor Club To Hike Sunday

On Sunday, members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will be hiking in the Hearts Content Area. This will be a 5-mile moderate hike. Meet at 1 p.m. at Musante Street in Warren. Bob Gregerson is the leader.

Kick Cabin Fever Indoor Triathlon Canceled For 2025

MAYVILLE, N.Y. – The Suicide Prevention Alliance of Chautauqua County and Chautauqua Health and Fitness at the Turner Center are announcing the cancellation of the 2025 Kick Cabin Fever Indoor Triathlon due to facility renovations planned for this winter. “It is often we have to miss an important event due to what life throws our way. Our minds immediately tune into another goal and make a commitment that it will turn out even better the next time,” said Cheryl Burns, event founder. Meet Jan. 21

FREWSBURG – The Myers Memorial Library Association will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, followed by a library board meeting at 6:30 p.m. The community is welcome to attend.

Impact Campus Fellowship

Fundraiser Is Jan. 23

A fundraiser for Impact Campus Fellowship will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at Hillcrest Church, 40 Hallock St., Jamestown. The pasta dinner will cost $12 a person. Orders can be eaten in or taken out. Dinner includes pasta, bread, a drink, dessert and salad.
