Programs Jan. 23

The Chautauqua County 4-H Leaf Jr. program will host two sewing classes for youth between the ages of 9 and 18 at the Carnahan Center at Jamestown Community College. The first class will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 p.m. Students will be working with 4-H volunteer Nancy Johnson to make a sewing box to store a basic sewing kit. Students will leave with the box and the basic kit contents. The second class will be Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m., with students learning to use a sewing machine and sew their own pillowcase. The program will be taught by Amber Laurie of the Concord Quilting Studio in Ripley. Youth do not need to bring their own sewing machine, but it is preferred to be sure there are enough machines. Each class costs $10 for 4-H members and $15 for non-4-H members. Though the classes are being billed as a series, youth do not have to take both classes.
