BPU Announces Christmas, New Year’s Hours

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Customer Service and offices will be closed for Christmas on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25. For New Year’s, offices will be closed on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. Garbage and recycling for Dec. 23-28 and Dec. 30-Jan. 4 will be delayed by one day, starting with Christmas Day and New Year’s Day when Wednesday collections occur on Thursdays. Thursday pick-ups move to Friday, and Friday collections move to Saturday. Recycling for the week of Dec. 23-28 is paper. Recyclables from Dec. 30 to Jan. 4 are cardboard and boxboard. Customers who need to pay bills after-hours may leave checks or money orders in drop-off boxes located at the top of the BPU’s “D” driveway, 92 Steele St.; outside City Hall on Tracy Plaza; and inside the vestibule of the Jamestown Police Department entrance on Second Street. Payments left after-hours should only be made by check or money order. For reports of trouble in all BPU divisions, customers may call 661-1640 at all hours.

Ice Arena To Host Red Cross Blood Drive Christmas Eve

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 24 at the Northwest Arena, 319 W. Third St., Jamestown. To make an appointment or for more information, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. visit RedCrossBlood.org. call 1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
