Falconer To Host Holiday Events Saturday

FALCONER – The Falconer Fireman’s Auxiliary Holiday Expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Falconer Fire Hall, followed by the annual Falconer Santa Parade at 5 p.m. sponsored by the Falconer Rotary Club. The parade begins at 5 p.m. on East Avenue and will proceed along East Main Street to Davis Street. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available to meet with children at Santa’s House in Coleson Park immediately following the parade.

City BPU Announces Thanksgiving Schedules

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, in observance of Thanksgiving. The Customer Service Office reopens for business at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2. Garbage and recycling collection will not occur on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, but instead, will be delayed until Friday, Nov. 29. The regular Friday collection will take place on Saturday, Nov. 30. Recycling for the week is metal. Bills may be paid by phone and online by credit card, debit card or e-check. Click on the blue My Account button at www.jamestownbpu.com for online payment. Phone payments may be made by calling 716-661-1660, ext. 3. Customers also may leave BPU payments in drop-off boxes located in the Customer Service Office parking lot down the “D” driveway, 92 Steele Street; in the Jamestown Police Department vestibule on the East Second Street side of City Hall; and outside the Third Street entrance of City Hall on Tracy Plaza. Payments left in drop boxes should only be made by check or money order. For reports of trouble in all BPU Divisions, customers may call 716-661-1640 after hours.

Audubon First Sunday Story Time Is Dec. 1

The Audubon Community Nature Center will hold its next First Sunday Story Time at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1. Nature Center doors open at 12:20 p.m. for the event before opening to the public at 1 p.m. After Story Time, those attending can visit the animals, explore the interactive exhibits and indoor Nature Play Area before going outdoors to visit Sara the Spotted Salamander. Measuring roughly 14 feet from her nose to the tip of her tail, Sara joined Tank, the 1,500-pound concrete turtle, five years ago. Both were designed, created, and donated to Audubon by Mike Whitmire of Whitmire Outdoor Living in Starbrick, Pa. First Sunday Story Time is free as is Sunday admission. Reservations for story time are requested by Saturday, Nov. 30. Participation is limited to 15. Walk-ins are welcome if there is room.
