ILS Vets Club

To Host Dinners Friday Nights

The ILS Veterans Club is having regular dinners every Friday at the club, 364 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu, prepared by Lee Cain and his crew, consists of casual food such as Italian beef hoagies, meatball subs, philly cheesesteak hoagies and hamburger/ cheeseburger combinations for $8 each. Fries are an additional $1.95. The club bar is open to the public.

Veterans To

Host Information Meeting In

October

FREWSBURG – In an effort to educate and support the families of all veterans concerning the benefits available to them through the Department of Veterans Affairs, the David L. Woodburn Chapter 978 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will present a Spousal and Survivors Benefits Meeting on Oct. 12 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 556, 9 Meadow Lane, Frewsburg. The program was created to bring awareness to what is currently available to the spouse, widow, widower, and families of all veterans. Federal benefits are constant for everyone; however, state-funded, and local benefits can vary, and these things will be addressed. The Pact Act, Agent Orange and Burn Pits are among the items that will also be discussed. Presenters will include: US Rep. Nick Langworthy; state Sen. George Borello; state Assemblyman Andy Goodell; County Executive P.J. Wendell; WNY District VVA Representative Bill Paton; Major (ret.) Greg Carlson Chautauqua County Veterans Service Officer; Barbara Cessna of Vets Finding Vets and Honor Flights; Carl Steenburn, Agent Orange survivor; Cindy Reidi, project coordinator of Dwyer Chautauqua County. Admission is free to all. Veterans, spouses and survivors are invited to attend. Each presenter will speak for 10-15 minutes with questions and answers at the end. Light refreshments will be available.

Norden Women’s Club To Meet Oct. 12

The Norden Women’s Club will host a member-guest lunch on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Robert H. Jackson Center. Social hour begins at noon with lunch served at 12:30 p.m. The program will be a presentation by Kristan McMahon, president of the Robert H. Jackson Center, on the life of Robert H. Jackson from Jamestown to Washington, D.C., to the war crimes trials in Nuremberg, Germany. Fenton Canteen Returns Saturday

The next Fenton Canteen will be held on Saturday from 10 to noon at the Fenton Mansion/Museum, 67 Washington St. Jamestown. All veterans are welcome to attend for coffee, cookies and camaraderie.
