Falconer Library To Display Quilts, Host Reception Today

FALCONER – Quilts created by Connie McCauley have been on display at the Falconer Public Library, 101 W. Main St., throughout the month of September. There will be a “Meet the Quilter” reception with McCauley on Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the library.

Busti Gazebo Concert Series Wraps Up

Saturday

BUSTI – The final concert of the Busti Gazebo Concert Series season will be held Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring the Rustic Ramblers performing in the Gazebo in Busti. Those attending should bring a lawn chair for seating. Concerts are sponsored by the Busti Hamlet Society and the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

Quilt Guild To Host Display

BUSTI – The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will be holding its second annual quilt display from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Busti Federated Church at the five corners of Busti as part of the first day of the Busti Apple Festival. There will be 100 quilts on display along with other items. The guild even has a wedding quilt that was made prior to 1910 and a quilt, Barcelona, that was selected to be one of 51 banners on Third Street in Jamestown. Quilts of Valor will have some items on display and information about the foundation and the local group. There will be a drawing for a one-year membership. There is no charge to see these works of art.

Special Service To Be Held In Gerry Sunday

GERRY – “Breaking Through Life’s Brick Walls” is the theme for a special service in the building of the former Gerry FM Church on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Pastor Forrest States, Pastor Roy Miller and Pastor Mel McGinnis, as well as John Neail, will be bringing messages about getting through the spiritual walls of pride, anger, unforgiveness and prayerlessness. Susan Waite will be leading in worship.

Allegheny

Outdoor Club To Kayak Sunday

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will kayak from Kinzua Dam to the Eagles Club. The group will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Hemlock Road by the dam to put kayaks in the water. Mark Simpson is the leader of the outing.

Hazeltine Library Author Series Continues

Monday

BUSTI – The author series at the Hazeltine Public Library continues on Monday with Mary Zdrojewski. Zdrojewski is a school librarian who has been writing since childhood. She is a Jamestown Community College and State University at Fredonia graduate with a masters in library science from the University of Buffalo. Her picture book “Wiser the Owl” has been used across the state to help students learn the research process. She also writes young adult novels in a fantasy genre and has published a collection of fantasy fiction – short stories. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Building at the library. There is no charge to attend. The library is located at 891 Busti-Sugar Grove Road, Busti, and can be reached by calling 716-487-1281. There is off street parking in the lot next to the library and the Community Building is handicapped accessible.

Meetings

A new GriefShare session begins on Sunday, Sept. 29, meeting weekly at 6:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Church, 40 Hallock St., Jamestown. Each session includes a video seminar with encouraging, information-packed presentations featuring leading grief recovery experts followed by small group discussion. A personal workbook provides a guide for journaling and personal study exercises that reinforce the weekly session topics. Seminar topics cover the challenges of grief, the journey of grief, grief and your relationships, guilt and anger, complicating factors, lessons of grief, heaven, and “What Do I Live for Now?” Hillcrest partners with other local churches to provide GriefShare seminars throughout the year offering friendly, caring groups of people. Homelessness Sept. 30

KIANTONE – “The Church’s Response to Homelessness in Jamestown” will take place on Monday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at Koinonia Fellowship Church (1427 Peck Settlement Road, Kiantone). Pastor Ron Lemon of Koinonia Fellowship Church will moderate a panel including Pastor Aaron Wadin, Pastor Scott Linden, Pastor Cameron Lienhart and Sheriff Jim Quattrone. Those attending will hear what the church has been doing and how the church brings understanding, wisdom, and assistance for helping those who are homeless, how issues are deeper than homelessness and possible solutions.

Protection Board To Meet

MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board will meet at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in Room 331 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville.
