Family History Club Will Meet On Sat. Dec. 10

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library Family History Club will meet on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at the library located at 15 Main St., Sinclairville. THe meeting will feature a virtual presentation by Jody Bradish on becoming a family history blogger with two parts: Writing the Stories and Setting Up the Blog. An example of Bradish’s blog, Pilgrims, Puritans & Pioneers, can be viewed at bradish-scotthistory.blogspot.com. Register in advance by contacting the library at info@sinclairvillelibrary.org or calling 716-962-5885 to ensure enough accompanying materials are available. Tickets are available for an opportunity to win a handmade quilt, with the drawing to be held on Dec. 16. Tickets cost $2 each or three for $5. The library will be closed on Dec. 24 24 and Dec. 26 for the Christmas holidays and Dec. 31 and Jan. 2 for the New Year’s holidays.

Dinner

Scheduled For Sat. Dec. 10

AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 726, with the support of the ILS Veterans Club, will be hosting a dinner on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 2 to 6 p.m. or until sold out, at the ILS Veterans Club, 364 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown. The ladies will be serving a choice of two fresh-cooked dinners: chicken and biscuits or baked rigatoni with meat sauce, including dessert. The cost of the dinner is $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under, but guests can eat free with the donation of a new toy of equal value or more, or socks and underwear for children or adults. The toys will be delivered to Toys for Tots, and the underwear will be distributed locally. The dinners may be eaten on site or take-outs are available.

Christmas Carol Sing And Cookie Exchange Thurs. Dec. 15

FREWSBURG — The Myers Memorial Library will host a Christmas carol sing and cookie exchange at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. Lyrics to favorite Christmas carols will be available and those attending will sing by the library’s new fireplace. To take part in the cookie exchange, bring two or three dozen cookies and an empty container. Hot hocolate and coffee will be available.

Wendy Bale Leading 2-Hour Workshop At Lakewood

LAKEWOOD — Paper artist Wendy Bale will lead a two-hour workshop at the Lakewood Memorial Library on Saturday, Dec. 17, showing how to make paper leaves out of vellum and mulberry papers. The project requires no special drawing skills and is suitable for all skill levels. The group will use an embossing tool to sculpt the paper into a life-like leaf that, unlike a dried real leaf, will last for years. All materials will be provided. This class will include a step-by-step guide and templates including a variety of leaves. In this holiday edition of Bale’s workshop she also includes holly leaves. The free workshop was made possible through grant funding from the Cullen Foundation for the Arts. Registration Register by emailing programs@lakewoodlibrary.org or calling 716-763-6234.
