Annual Broadhead Shoot Is Sunday

FREWSBURG — The 23rd annual Broadhead Shoot will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Carroll Rod and Gun Club, 1111 Frew Run Road, Frewsburg. The cost is $12 and kids shoot for free. Door prizes and food will be available. Cross bows are welcome. The 30-target course is over a 2-mile walk.

Panama School Board To Meet Monday

PANAMA — The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.

Lake Erie Watershed Protection Alliance To Host Seminar

MAYVILLE — The Lake Erie Watershed Protection Alliance is hosting a seminar from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday to show residents of Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Erie counties how septic systems work and how to maintain them. Those attending the virtual workshop will be eligible for a $30 rebate for a septic tank pump-out while funding is available. Many Chautauqua County residents and businesses rely on septic systems to treat sewage and wastewater and to avoid community health hazards. The large majority of septic system components are out of sight so it’s easy to forget how these systems work and why proper maintenance is so important. A recent study conducted by LEWPA demonstrated that bacteria from human waste washes into our waterways each time it rains. Inadequate and failing septic systems contribute to bacteria contamination as well as elevated nutrient levels, such as phosphorous and nitrogen, in the region. Blood Drive To Be Held At UPMC

Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive at UPMC Chautauqua, 207 Foote Ave., Jamestown, from noon-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29. The blood inventory remains at severely low levels while the amount of blood donations has decreased. All blood types are needed.

United Senior Council To Sponsor Driver’s Course

The United Senior Council of Chautauqua County is sponsoring a driver’s safety course from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. The cost is $35 and will be held at the Chautauqua Center in Jamestown on the third floor. Call Ellen Coffaro at 716-763-1012 to make a reservation no later than Oct. 1. The United Senior Council will provide refreshments.

SUNY Ensemble Event Canceled

The Gemelan ensemble workshop and concert slated for Sunday at the State University of New York at Fredonia has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.
