Historical Society Meets In Bemus Point

BEMUS POINT — Ken Springirth will present “Southwestern New York State’s Trolley and Train Heritage” at the Bemus Point Historical Society monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bemus Point Village Hall on Alburtus Avenue. The program will cover the history of the interurban trolley routes that once connected Jamestown to Westfield on both sides of Lake Chautauqua plus the Erie Railroad, New York Central Railroad, New York Chicago and St. Louis Railroad, and Pennsylvania Railroad that provided extensive freight service connections for Western New York industries to market their products throughout North America plus abundant passenger service.

PANAMA — The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the school auditorium. The public is welcome to attend.

Valley Historical Society To

Hold Regular

Monthly Meeting On Tuesday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday at the museum in Sinclairville at Main and Lester streets. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. followed by a history presentation by Larry Barmore, society president. Barmore will talk about his new book covering various historical happenings in and around Sinclairville from 1880 to 1940. The book is a project of more than five years of research and will be offered for sale for the first time at the meeting. Anyone interested in local history is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.

JPS Board Of Education To Meet

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Jefferson Middle School auditorium, 195 Martin Road, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Fenton History Center To Host June Brown Bag Lunch

On Wednesday at noon, the Fenton History Center will host its June Brown Bag Lunch in the Fenton Mansion, 67 Washington St. Local historian Norman Carlson will speak on the pre-history of Chautauqua County. The presentation is offered live, on Zoom and Facebook Live.

WATTS FLATS — The Watts Flats rummage sale will be held Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Watts Flats United Methodist Church, 866 Blockville-Watts Flats Road, Watts Flats, near Blockville. There are many items to choose from, with the cost being a donation to the church. A lunch will be available to purchase.
