They should get a trip back to where they came from if they are Illegal.

Illegals are eligible for only one thing - a return to their native country. Why should we taxpayers reward illegality?

Illegal immigrants should have a foot removed before they're returned to their own country for their first offense. Second offense above the knee. I can guarantee they would stop pushing for amnesty, illegal immigration would come to an abrupt haultand there would be a sudden exodus.

NO !!! Do we have a new definition of illegal ?? WHY are we even considering free(tax payer funded) education for convicted criminals and now ILLEGAl immigrants when our families are struggling under the heavy tax burdens and the costs of college already ? Many of our college students and their parents- who are working and/or taking out loans- are trying to do things right and THEY are being penalized and put under heavy debt burdens-now they are being asked to not only fund their own education, but when they graduate, take of the burden of ILLEGAL immigrants and criminals ??

New York Assembly recently passed a law granting college aid to kids of illegal immigrants. This law is known as the DREAM act. This bill would provide conditional permanent residency to certain immigrants of GOOD MORAL CHARACTER who graduate from U.S. high schools, arrived in the United States as minors, and lived in the country continuously for at least five years prior to the bill's enactment. If they were to complete two years in the military or two years at a four-year institution of higher learning, they would obtain temporary residency for a six-year period. within the six-year period, they may qualify for permanent residency if they have acquired a degree from an institution of higher education in the United States or have completed at least 2 years, in good standing, in a program for a bachelor's degree or higher degree in the United States or have served in the armed services for at least 2 years and, if discharged, received an honorable discharge

Why would an illegal be allowed to enlist? I know you don't have to be a US citizen to join, but here illegally?
Illegals get welfare, food stamps, education, medical care. Now we want to give them a college education and drivers license. How about legal citizens that work hard and can barely afford these things.

50s4ever , the bill would categorize Children of illegals whom have been living in this country and are of good moral Character as "legal permanent immigrant" in order to join the U.S. military as a non-citizen, you must be currently living permanently (and legally) in the United States. Tourist visas and student visas aren't good enough. You must be categorized as a legal permanent immigrant.
This option gives those who truly want to be a productive member of our society the opportunity to earn it.

So, we should penalize the children for the actions of their parents ?
Like I said...illegals can't enlist. This bill changes their status. Anesty is a good word. The kid is full grown when they enlist. Okay, so he/she gets citizenship. Not to mention nobody will deport the illegal parents because they have a service member in the family, and it's just one more legal anchor for the entire family. Diversity policies skirt good sense, citizens' approval, and law.

I think this method of dealing with this potion of the "immigration problem" is a lot better than the way President Ronald Reagan did it in the 80's. At least this way CHILDREN whom are affected by the misgivings and choices that their parents made have the opportunity to succeed in this country with hard work , in fact they are held to a much higher standard that other Americans when it comes to earning their citizenship , which If I must remind you, most of us did not have to do so and are not require to do so.
50s4ever, you're correct, it is a promise of Amnesty with a condition that certain requirements are completed !
