I would be happy if they just kept them as is. I see that's not going to happen so why waste time discussing expanding them.

If you served post Vietnam prior to Iraq, you had a good chance of a career without danger of combat. For the last decade, you couldn't even be in the reserves and be safe. When somebody talks like freddy, I have no problem talking back on a level he might comprehend. You don't have to have a purple heart to be respected, you do get a tad more from me if you served, because you have more knowledge. But I come the time of hippies and the draft.

Before talking about expanding benefits, how about making sure they get what they're already promised. The VA is a shambles and their employees are getting BONUSES when they should be getting FIRED instead. Obama is reducing pay and benefits and cutting the military strength in numbers. There's no accountability when it comes to government workers and the situation will not improve until this changes. As a matter of fact, the only people who have been punished in recent years are the "whistleblowers" who have the courage to speak out.

I just wonder if they did start using real names on here, how many people would offer their true feelings. That would be dangerous.

You know what FoodStampFreddie, you got people right here in America no one wants to help. People gripe about welfare and how it needs to be cut from those who've been on it for years, but there's no shortage of folks who go to Wal Mart for bargains that are made...in China, Taiwan, anywhere but here. Where are you in this fight for American jobs? TVs, DVD players, clothes could all be made right here. But YOU don't want them.

I could use any real name. Steve, Jim, Earl, Sandy, Randi, Jane all sound nice. Your point? Would I have to show my birth certificate or ID?

One other point Bluedog, I do not support the views of most conservatives on this form. In fact, I am a founding member of Organizing for Action.

Bluedog: If someone doesn't like the foreign policies of the USA, or the methods used to promote those policies, fine. There is much to criticize. However, we are discussing veterans benefits. I, like Gunny, was fortunate to come back to civilian life with no bullet holes in me, luck of the draw. The "military welfare" that vets get is woefully lacking. Rats running around Walter Reed and the computer boondoggles delaying benefits are two such issues. But this is, as you pointed out, a systemic problem that was not created nor supported by our vets. Why not attack those who lost their lives on the Deepwater Horizon because they chose to work for BP. Keep an open mind but not so open that your brains fall out.

Blue Dog, I can't believe I am still trying to explain this to you. My first post was a response to negative criticism about the US Military (in which I served proudly for 6 years) I took it as a personal attack. My response was composed and in good nature. The responses following mine were aggressive in nature and out of bounds.. It also appears as though I am the only one posting who is not hiding behind a false name. Get your facts straight. Who is the one who got the ball rolling on this?
From what i hear the PJ will be changing their web site forums soon so that real names will be used to post your views.

I will also defend his right to say it but I will also defend my right to say what I think of people that do say things like that.
Westley , Having an opinion and voicing that opinion in an appropriate manner is good for the debates that the Liberals and the Conservative enjoy here. and that's not a Liberal or a conservative ideal, its an adult ideal. because adults don't need to converse like animals. And this isn't even something that should need to be explained to you. I don't agree with everything everyone says here, but I don't have to resort to personal attacks and calling people names to be heard. The best way to deal with opinions that you may not like is re well thought out response backed by researched facts. Now, I'm not a fan of my more liberal friends policies in some cases, I've always been known to favor more conservative fiscal policies and my comments generally reflect that stance. And that's all they reflect, because when it all comes down to it, Liberal or conservative we are all in this together, we are all Americans and we all have a genuine concern for the future of our great country.
Sorry Blu3d0gD3m0cr8tz, after what happened to another poster on here about 2 years ago it just isn't going to happen Someone found out where he lived and who he was and would up being the target of vandalism. I don't have that much trust in people to do that. Especially a progressive.

Blue Dog: Shame on Me... Attacks....Cyber bullying??? Did you actually read my posts? Am I allowed to have an opinion or am I just supposed to listen to the Liberal drivel? Did I call him a FOOL and have a breakdown in big bold letters.... Opinions are fine. It just so happens that in this forum, 80% feel what you are saying is hog wash.. Not bullying, Fact...

And loneriderrr1, I would love to meet you face to face someday, I think we could have a great discussion on current events. Maybe Tim Horton's is in our future.

Well said Gunny loneriderrr1 : Last time I checked the military took its orders from the politicians, they don't act on their own, So once again , he wasn't attacking the military .

I don't say much on these forums because honestly I think half of you are absolutely nuts. But I will say this, I served total of 28 years in the USMC , of that time I was only deployed once, of the time I was deployed I only saw actual combat for about 45 mins. The rest of my career was spent training , drinking beer and playing cards. So Mr Freddie isn't far off from the whole Grab *** comments , those of you whom have served will know this to be true as well. Also, as a 28 year vet , I want to say this , I don;t have to like what you say, But I will defend your right to say it. But I will never defend personal attacks on a fellow citizen who is only expressing his beliefs using his 1st amendment right. And I will never defend someone that calls people names hidden behind the protective wall of anonymity provided by this news paper.

Who is he attacking then. Read my last post and tell me it's not our military he means.

bluesman, He didn't attack the military. He attacked the integrity of the entire system. He put focus on a few well known conspiracy theories that have valid points even though they are generally rejected by the main stream media .

"The problem is that the united state military isn't fighting to preserve our freedoms, ts fighting to give oil contracts to China and Europe !" Yea nothing bad about our military. "Just another form of welfare ! Sam is right, most vets don't do anything but play grab****all day long on the tax payers bill. Why should we extend more welfare ( lets call it what it is ) to those who don't deserve it " Defend his rant if you want but I will not.

so fred can attack the military and we can't respond? Another looney lefty.
loneriderrr1 , he didn't say anything bad about vets, he said that the focus of American's should be something other than this petty bickering that goes on. He spoke about the blatant engineering of the media to redirect The American public to the so real issues that truly affect us as a whole are never really dealt with. Ye FsF is a little extreme in his opinion, but that doesn't give you the right to attack him personally. It's ok to have a heated debate of views but its ruins the integrity of the entire forum when the comments digress to the point of children calling each other names.
Do you mean stick to the topic in this manner "9/11 WAS A GOVERNMENT JOB YOU FOOLS WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES, OSAMA BIN LANDIN WAS A MADE UP CHARACTER !" or this "YET ALL WE DO IS SIT AROUND AND TALK ABOUT HOW HONORABLE OUR MILITARY VETS ARE, GIVE ME AN EFFIN BREAK !" Yea I will cut him the same slack he did our vets. A real loser that one.

@ 50s4ever , Westley , StoneJarl , bluesman, Shame on all of you for the personal attacks on FSF, He is entitled to his opinions right or wrong. I think that the biggest problem with conservatives is that the main focus of their party is to somehow force a certain morality on the American Public by any means necessary even the border like Cyber bullying that is going on here on this very forum. Grow up gentlemen , you're comments and personal attack are very inappropriate. Stick to the topic please. Thank you
