Lois Erickson Paul, 85, of Sea Girt, N.J., passed away at the Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Brick, N.J., on Aug. 29, 2014.
Born in Jamestown, N.Y., she was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Jamestown for many years and was married there in 1954. In recent years she was a member of the Methodist House of Chautauqua, N.Y., where she was the organist for several years. She spent her summers in Chautauqua, N.Y., for most of her life.
Lois resided in Sea Girt, N.J., since 1966. Prior to that she lived in Fanwood and Chatham, N.J. She was a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory and Johns Hopkins University in piano in 1950 and received a Master of Science in education at the University of Virginia in 1953.
Lois taught piano and was an organist in local churches and at Temple Sholom in Plainfield, N.J., for 25 years. She was a lover of classical music as well as a performer who specialized in accompaniment of singers and instrumentalists.
Mrs. Paul was predeceased by her parents: Dorothy and Harvey Erickson of Jamestown, N.Y. Lois is survived by her husband, Edward of Sea Girt, N.J., and Chautauqua, N.Y.; her two children: Scott and Anne of Sutton, Mass., and Randolph, N.J., respectively; and three grandchildren: Jason, Christina and Elizabeth.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Spring Lake, N.J.
Contributions may be made to the St. Andrew's Church or to the Methodist House of Chautauqua, N.Y., in her memory.
