PANAMA - Panama opened its season on a winning note, sweeping Pine Valley, 25-9, 25-10 and 25-14 in non-league girls volleyball on Thursday
For Panama, Madalyn Bowen had four aces, seven kills, a block and six points, Taylor Bowen produced four aces, a kill, 21 assists and 14 points and Lauren Tordella added three aces, seven kills, a block and eight points.
Kayleigh Brunswick had three kills and two digs and Jessica Pillard scored 10 assists for Pine Valley.
Panama made it 2-0 on Friday after defeating Forestville, 25-21, 25-9, and 25-15 in another non-league battle.
For the winners, Madalyn Bowen had 13 kills, one block, two digs and two points, Brittany Lenart added seven kills, five digs, a block and two points, Taylor Bowen connected for 17 assists, two digs, one kill, one block and 10 points, Quinn Payne scored 16 points and seven aces and Lauren Tordella had two kills, three blocks and three points.
FALCONER - Falconer won the opening volleyball game of the season, 25-20, but then lost three in row to Cattaraugus-Little Valley-Ellicottville, 28-26, 25-22 and 25-12 on Friday in the opener for both teams.
Marissa Hamilton had 25 assists, 10 digs and two blocks, Ashlee Harvey 20 kills and six blocks, and Nicole Benz 19 digs and two aces for the winners.
In defeat, Erin Roach delivered 10 assists and Abby Courtney six kills.
Falconer took the junior varsity match, 25-18, 25-9 and 25-20.
