PANAMA - The Randolph girls soccer team is 1-0 after beginning its season with a 6-0 win on the road against Panama (0-1) on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Cardinals had well-balanced scoring and started out with five goals in the first half.
Hannah English tallied in the fourth minute on an assist by Megan Steward to give Randolph a lead. Taylor Zachar then made it 2-0 in the sixth minute on an unassisted goal, while Kaylee Hettenbaugh found the back of the net off a feed from Zachar in the 10th minute. Molly Carpenter added another unassisted tally in the 24th minute of the first half, while Steward fired home another goal from English before the midway break.
Jordyn Lux added the final goal with seven minutes remaining on a feed by Taryn Dechow to make it a 6-0 shutout.
The game was the first for Panama after combining with Clymer this offseason.
Justine Kuno was the underclassman holding Panama's defense together against the Lady Cardinals, while Rebekah Whitmore was equally good in net with 21 saves on 27 shots.
Mikayla Miller had an easy go between the pipes for Randolph, as Panama's offense struggled to convert on break-away opportunities.
