Music, storytellers, magic shows, monarch butterflies, and a 1K kids' run will be among the attractions today as the Downtown Jamestown Farmers Market hosts its annual Community Day. The event will run from noon-4 p.m. at the market's new location on Cherry Street between Second and Third streets.
"We've seen a tremendous increase in traffic, sales, and community engagement at the new Cherry Street location," said Christina King, Farmers Market manager for the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation, which runs the market. "Community Day is an opportunity for everyone to come out and enjoy the market, which is becoming a great public gathering space on Thursday afternoons."
This year will mark the fourth year of the market's 1K kids' run for children in grades kindergarten through 5. Participants can pre-register the day of the event, just prior to the race, which starts at 12:45 p.m. Third Street between Prendergast Avenue and Washington Street will be temporarily closed for the race.
