Monday was a busy day for Congressman Tom Reed, who stopped at Everyday's True Value on his "Working and Listening" tour.
Reed, R-Corning, congratulated Everyday's True Value owner Steve Columbare for receiving the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce's award for retailer of the year.
"Steve has operated this store for 22 years and we had a chance to talk about issues he faces," Reed said. "It's people like Steve and future innovators that are going to put people back to work for generations to come. These are the innovators we stand for in Washington."

Reed is running against Democrat Martha Robertson, D-Dryden, for Congress and has made several tour stops in the 23rd Congressional District.
He was also endorsed on Monday by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
"I really appreciate all the work the chamber does in focusing on business in America," Reed said. "I'm a firm believer, given where we're at, that our greatest days are yet to come. A lot of that greatness is going to come from a manufacturing rebirth."
Chautauqua County Executive Vince Horrigan also attended the event, and said Everyday's True Value is a great example of a successful, local small business.
"As county executive, no matter where I go, it's constantly the same story," Horrigan said. "We need good-paying jobs, less taxes, less restrictions and so forth. We've had great times and challenging times and I have stood next to this Congressman time and time again. Whether it's good news or not so good news, he doesn't shy away from anything."
Jack Howard, senior vice president of Congressional and public affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, commended Reed for his efforts.
"Holding an event at a hardware store is a perfect example of his commitment to hard work and job creation," Howard said. "With a congressional district that has 11 counties and is the size of New Jersey, it should keep you hustling. That's a lot of ground to cover."
