James Barrett "Barry" Sullivan Jr., 79, of 872 Englewood Ave., town of Tonawanda, N.Y., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.
He was born March 10, 1935, in Jamestown, N.Y., and spent most of his life in the town of Tonawanda.
Following his U.S. Army service, he returned to the University at Buffalo, graduating in 1960, as a history/government major.
Several years were spent as a retail manager at Higbee's Department Store in Cleveland, Ohio, in the Fidelity and Surety Department of Travelers Insurance in Buffalo, N.Y., and at Bell Aerosystems, Niagara Falls, N.Y.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Crocker of Jamestown, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Fredsall Sullivan; his father, James B. Sullivan Sr.; and his grandparents: Hiram and Mattie Sullivan of Westfield, N.Y., and Nellie Otelia Fredsall of Jamestown.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, in Bellinger Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 509 Prendergast Ave., Jamestown.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 83 S. Main St., Jamestown, NY 14701; or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
Burial will be at Westfield Cemetery.
