CASSADAGA - With a dramatic birdie on the par 3 17th hole, Brenton Wilcox successfully defended his Cassadaga Country Club Championship over the weekend.
Wilcox scored a one-stroke victory over Tim Bulger by shooting a144 for the two-day tournament.
Rod Lind finished in third place, and former club champion Todd Fenton and 14-time club champion Scott Johnson rounded out the top-five finishers.

In the Men's First Flight, Tyler Lerow led wire to wire with Fred Chamberlin and Mike Hoffman rounding out the top-three finishers.
Julie Fenton won her first Ladies Club Championship with a victory over defending champ Jodi Hoffman. Ranee Kaus rounded out the top three.

Jeff Cook successfully defended his Senior Club Championship with Paul Edson and Dick Mangine rounding out the top three.
Ron Juzdowski was likewise successful in defending his Super Senior Club Championship.
NELSON DOES IT AGAIN
NORTH WARREN, Pa. - The Men's Steeplechase Championship at Conewango Valley Country Club came to a thrilling finish Sunday.
Long-shot Joe Bellitto joined the Men's Club Champion Joe Nelson and former club Steeplechase Champion/Club Champion Dick Cole for the final two holes. Bellitto relinquished his position on the second-to-last hole, setting up the ''dream'' match between Nelson and Cole. Nelson captured the event with a par 4 on the last hole.
The event concluded a sweep for Nelson for the major club events at CVCC this year. He was recently crowned Men's Club Champion and now the Men's Steeplechase Champion.
The Steeplechase event showcases the best golfers at Conewango Valley CC in a single elimination per hole format.
