Merton "Butch" Querreveld, 85, of 324 Mohawk St., Clymer, N.Y., passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at his home.
He was born April 16, 1929, in Clymer, N.Y., the son of the late Garret and Nellie Gulick Querreveld.
Butch was a lifelong resident of Clymer. He was a member of the Clymer United Methodist Church, a member of the Clymer Fire Department for 60 years, where he served as fire chief for 36 years. He owned and operated Q&T Gravel Co. for more than 30 years. He enjoyed his daily visits to the Dutch Village Restaurant. Butch always enjoyed helping others.
He is survived by his wife, Coralee Querreveld, of Clymer, whom he married Oct. 18, 1947; his daughter, Kathy (Rick) Boyd of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons: Ron (Brenda) Querreveld of Clymer, N.Y., and Randall (Becky) Querreveld of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren: JoAnn (Josh) Kopta, Jamie Querreveld, Ryan Querreveld and Rachael Querreveld; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Smith in 1990; and a brother, Guyle Querreveld.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
