CASSADAGA - Dennis G. "Axle" Dorman, 54, of Cassadaga, formerly of Stockton, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at UPMC Hamot, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 27, 1960, in Westfield, son of David (Mary Ellen Dorsett) Dorman of Bear Lake and Donna Sunday (Jim LaCount) Emo of Sebring, Fla. A Chautauqua County resident all of his life, he was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.
Dennis was employed for 36 years in the gas and oil industry for various companies, the last being DLH Energy Service since 2008.
"Axle" believed in giving back and was an active community member as an exempt member of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Department, was a member and past president of the Cassadaga Valley Football Boosters, Stockton Little League coach and a 4-H volunteer for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, cooking and was well-known for roasting pigs, his famous chicken barbecues and assisted Sandy with the operation of the White Horse Inn, Cassadaga. Above all, he loved being with family and friends. He was always smiling.
Beloved companion of Sandy Kuhn of Cassadaga; father of Amanda (Michael) Robinson of Yuma, Ariz., Jessica Thompson of Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dennis G. (Megan) Dorman II of Bear Lake and Marissa (Sam DePasquale) Griffis of Cassadaga; grandfather of Madison and Aiden Thompson; and brother of the late Diana Dorman and Michael Dorsett. Dennis is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the Stockton Fireman's Grounds (main pavilion off Cemetery Road).
In lieu of flowers memorials to Stockton VFD or Chautauqua County 4-H sheep barn.
