H. Alan Sandberg, 89, of 839 Prendergast Ave., Jamestown, formerly of 52 Valley View Drive, Frewsburg, died Saturday, July 26, 2014, in his home.
An area resident most of his life, he was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Jamestown, a son of the late Harry and Ethel Mae Swanson Sandberg.
He was a 1942 graduate of Celoron High School, and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1943-45.
Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was employed by Lakewood Construction and Supply as an estimator and designer.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frewsburg.
Surviving are three sons: James Sandberg, D. Stacy Sandberg and Scott Sandberg, all of Jamestown; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Wall Sandberg, whom he married May 22, 1981, and who died Feb. 27, 2011; two sons: Rowley and Christopher Sandberg; and a brother, Donald N. Sandberg.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Zion Lutheran Church, Frewsburg. The Rev. Rebecca Ehrlich will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the church.
