Global suppliers for Truck-Lite, the Falconer-based giant of heavy-duty lighting and visibility systems, were given some well-deserved gratitude Monday.
Crowding into the Willow Bay Theater in Jamestown, 150 representatives from around the world convened for Truck-Lite's 2014 International Supplier Summit.
Six suppliers were recognized for their exceptional performance in the last 12 months in the areas of quality, delivery, technology and commercial competitiveness.

FLABEG Automotive Mirrors from Shanghai was named the global supplier of the year.
Truck-Lite also honored five businesses as regional suppliers of the year: Amitron Corporation in the United States region; McCourt Cabinet Company in the United States region for indirect material; SG Automotive d.o.o in the Germany region; Scapa UK Ltd. in the United Kingdom region; and Airmar Transportes Internacionales in the Mexico region.
Martin Schroeder, Truck-Lite vice president of worldwide purchasing, said the purpose of the awards is to incentivize better performance.
"It's important for our suppliers to recognize the best of our suppliers," he said. "(The awards give them) some orientation and something to strive for the next year."
As for Truck-Lite itself, Schroeder pointed to the organization's growth and how this will impact the local economy.
"If Truck-Lite keeps growing, we'll offer more jobs for the local plant environment," he said. "We also try to (keep) business here in the U.S."
Truck-Lite is headquartered in Falconer, with additional U.S. manufacturing facilities in Wellsboro, Coudersport, and McElhattan, Pennsylvania and Saline, Michigan. International facilities are located in Harlow and Birmingham, England; Puebla, Mexico; and Eisenach, Germany. Truck-Lite is a major producer of safety lighting, forward lighting, wiring harnesses, mirrors, turn signal switches, and safety accessories to the heavy-duty truck, trailer, and commercial vehicle industries.
