The Jamestown Oldtimers defended their home turf at Diethrick Park on Sunday versus the visiting Niles, Ohio, team.
The game was a pitchers' dual to the last inning. Both pitchers held their opponent at bay to the bottom of the ninth when Wade Nelson led off with a scorching triple off the left center wall for Jamestown. A intentional walk followed and a fly out. Then Brian Moldovan, with one out and runners on first and third, sent a high popper into the sun over second base where it was misfielded, allowing the winning run to score for the Oldtimers.
The Oldtimers are 4-4 and in fourth place in the American Division of the Ohio 50 Plus Baseball League. They have seven games remaining before the league playoffs begin on Aug. 23.
The Oldtimers play next Sunday in Springfield, Ohio, where they will face Crestview and Springfield in a split doubleheader.
On Aug. 9 and 10 the Oldtimers play against American Division rival Youngstown at Diethrick Park. Both games start at 11 a.m.
