Phyllis C. Olson, 92, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday (July 24, 2014), in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center, Gerry.
A lifelong area resident, she was born April 10, 1922, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Adolph Frederick and Ellen Lind Ahlstedt.
She was a 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School, and in earlier years was employed by Anderson Cleaners and the Bank of Jamestown. For most of her life Phyllis was a devoted homemaker.
Phyllis was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the church's Ladies Aid, Alter Society and Cou-ples and Singles Club. She was also a member of Amaranth, Good Neighbors Club, Ackley, Pa., Tuesday Night Ladies Club and had served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Phyllis enjoyed baking, flowers, especially African Violets and sewing.
Surviving are her husband, Sanford G. "Sandy" Olson of Jamestown; her son, Randall G. (Kitty) Olson of Falconer; a grandson, David G. Olson of Falconer; two sister-in-laws: Lillian Carlson of Jamestown, and Elsie Ahlstedt of Nevada; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Carl A. Ahlstedt and Frederick E. Ahlstedt; four sisters: Elsie Nordine, Esther Nordine, Lillian Cattley and Rose Ahlstedt; and a nephew, Donald Nordine.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Village and the staff of Hospice of Chautauqua for the care Phyllis received.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Lutheran Church, Jamestown. The Rev. Daniel Nagle, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
