ONOVILLE - The Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism and the Onoville Marina invite the public to the seventh annual OnoFest being held Saturday at the Onoville Marina.
OnoFest is a one-day, family-oriented event with food, live music, fireworks and fun by the water. The festivities run from noon-9:30 p.m., with activities scheduled for young and old alike including arts, crafts, food, games and contests - including a Kan Jam Tournament at 2 p.m. To wind up the evening, a grand finale of fireworks will begin around 9:30 p.m.
Visitors will enjoy four bands throughout the day. Talon and Return Trip bring '70s and '80s classic rock to the stage while Goodbye Dawn will feature Indie/pop music and other current favorites. Roll the Dice will perform more classic rock and new country.
A number of vendors will bring crafts, educational displays, marine and yard equipment to the fest including Garden of Eternity, which will be selling handmade soap, body and bath items, and jewelry; Richard Hagberg, who will be selling wind chimes, mugs, sun catchers, necklaces, and other items; and Eagle Dream Rehabilitation Center will have rescued birds of prey on exhibit. Lime Lake Marine & RV will have an assortment of watercraft and RVs on display; and Z&M Ag & Turf will display lawnmowers and other yard equipment.
Food vendors will offer menu items including:
The Horseshoe Inn: Pot Roast Sandwiches, Fried Bologna Sandwiches
Bob's Bar & Grill: Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches, Beef on Weck Sandwiches, soda and water
Bayview Mini-Mart and Ice Cream Parlor: Chicken BBQ, Strawberry Shortcake
Hide-A-Way: Prime Rib on Weck Sandwiches, BBQ Sandwiches
R & S Enterprises: Curly Fries, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade, Italian Sausage, Polish Sausage, Pepsi Products
To make the festival goers' visit even better, a few improvements have been made on the grounds of the marina including a new sandbox, wheelchair accessible picnic tables and flower beds.
James Welch, marina manager, said a couple of longtime patrons donated a new sandbox in memory of their daughter, which the marina crew finished earlier this summer. Kids will enjoy using the sit-on digger toy installed in the sandbox.
According to Welch, the same patrons also donated three wheelchair accessible picnic tables - one for each pavilion. Also, a couple of volunteers generously planted flowers in the launch area and near dock No. 6 to make it more attractive.
The marina is located off I-86 at exit 17, 8 miles south of Steamburg on West Perimeter Road. Admission to the OnoFest is just $5 a carload, so bring a big vehicle packed with friends and family. Don't forget the chairs, blankets or umbrellas. There is no rain date for this event, so it will be held rain or shine.
