The Jamestown Area YMCA's Partner with Youth annual giving campaign is wrapping up this week. So far, the campaign has brought in more than $58,000 in donations to provide needed scholarships for local children to participant in YMCA membership and programming.
Several volunteer campaigners were honored this week for their ongoing support and dedication to this year's campaign. Chip Swanson, Sue Gullo, Sue Drago and Anne Dolce were recognized for their outstanding enthusiasm in working together as a team, and Pat Howard and Rochelle Mole' were both recognized for their exceptional commitment and individual contributions to the campaign.
Several campaign teams were recognized as well. The YMCA's board of directors met and exceeded its $5,000 goal. The staff members of the Jamestown Y also met and exceeded their $5,000 goal. The Lakewood Y community campaign team had a goal of $11,000 and has surpassed that goal by over $2,000. Finally, the Eastside Y community campaign team met and exceeded its $1,000 goal.
YMCA day campers, many of whom have benefited from funds raised by the Y’s Partner with Youth Annual Giving Campaign, celebrate in the lobby of the Jamestown YMCA. Collectively, the local YMCA raised over $58,000 to help kids experience YMCA membership and programming. Judith Guild, PWY Chairperson and Mark Eckendorf, YMCA CEO, were also present during the celebration.
The campaign, under the leadership of YMCA board fundraising chair Judith Guild, relies on the help of over 40 volunteer campaigners. There are four phases, which include the Chairman's Roundtable campaign which highlights $1,000 gifts or higher, YMCA staff campaign, and board and trustee member campaign, and the community campaign.
"Every year this campaign comes around and is at the heart of what the Y does," said Mark Eckendorf. "The success of Partner with Youth comes from the overwhelming stories heard every day at the Y and all the people that play an important role in these stories. The sincere work of the volunteer campaigners is also remarkable and very much appreciated."
Even though the active campaign period is winding down, the YMCA is still accepting donations.
"We still have donations coming in, and we are very hopeful that those gifts will put us over the top of our $68,000 goal," Eckendorf said.
