Barbara A. Holman, 77, of Jamestown passed away Thursday (July 17, 2014) in UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa.
A lifelong area resident, she was born June 20, 1937 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late F. Merle and Mavis E. Raistrick Mead.
Barbara was a graduate of Chautauqua Central High School and attended Jamestown Business College and Jamestown Community College.
Barbara was a dedicated homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and served as the church organist for over 25 years.
Barbara was also a member of the Ross Grange, Waterways Knitting Guild, served on the Chautauqua County Board of Elections as an election inspector and was a former member of the Chautauqua Opportunities Board.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband Bradley E. Holman whom she married April 8, 1961 in Jamestown; five children: Karen M. (Jeffrey) Norris of Auburn, Wash., Donald L. Holman of Buffalo, Lisa M. (Kenneth) Hinterberger of Angola, Alice D. Green of Buffalo and Patricia D. (Paul) Holley of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Kari Aguilar, Kenneth Hinterberger II, Justina Adams, Heather Davis, Matthew Holley and Timothy Green Jr.; five great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and her sister, Marcia (Bill) Nourse of Gerry.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Mead.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Ray Jackson and the Rev. Gerald Haglund will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
