Judith Ann Acklin, 75, of Warren, Pa., died peace-fully at the Blair Hospice House in Warren, on July 6, 2014.
The oldest daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Brown, she was born Feb. 12, 1939, in Wellsburg, Pa.
Married to Frank B. Acklin, she raised three children: Craig R. Acklin (Julie) of Jamestown, N.Y., Jennifer B. Acklin of Ellicottville, N.Y., and Tracy E. Acklin of Warren, Pa. Also surviving are her two grandsons: Ryan F. Acklin of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Evan J. Acklin of Jamestown, N.Y.; her dear sister, Janet Dunkle of Warren, Pa.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Judy worked most of her nursing career as an licensed practical nurse providing private duty nursing. In retirement, she worked at Ring Around the Rosy, and enjoyed her numerous flower gardens. She was a member of the Warren Garden Club for many years.
She was a talented artist and painter, an avid reader, a lifelong Steeler fan, and loved to ski and travel. Her favorite retreat was in the Adirondack Mountains, enjoying the fall season with Frank, family and friends.
Judy was kind and thoughtful beyond words, and everyone who knew her will miss her enormously.
A candlelight memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 20, at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market St., Warren, Pa. All who loved her are welcome to attend. A reception will follow the service.
