Lincoln Elementary School raised $3,838 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital during its annual Math-a-thon.
Kindergarten through fourth-grade students collected donations for the patients at St. Jude and in a one-day Math-a-Thon, answered Common Core-aligned math questions allowing them to practice their math skills. The top five student fundraisers were Brionna Dumaine, first grade; Luca DelPozzo, second grade; Sophia Dumaine, third grade; Alex DePasquale, fourth grade; and Evan Sharpe, fourth grade.
During the past 10 years, Lincoln students have raised $38,264 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Mary Cook, Lincoln Elementary School teacher, coordinates the annual event, which allows students to practice math skills, and to also learn a lesson in the importance of giving back to other children who may be in need of a helping hand.
