The Jamestown YMCA began its annual competitive swim clinics on July 7. The clinics run for six weeks from now through Aug.15.
Participants work on stroke development, endurance, drills, starts, and turns. Whether swimmers are looking for a chance to try a swim team, or a way to prepare for upcoming seasons, the Jamestown Y swim clinic is open to all swimmers, regardless of team or club affiliation. All participants will be eligible to participate in an invitational style swim meet at the end of the clinic.
The experienced swimmer clinic (all swimmers who have been on a competitive swim team and are 9 or older) is being held from 8-10 a.m. at the Jamestown High School pool. First-time competitive swimmers and swimmers 8 and under swim at the Jamestown YMCA from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Both clinics are held Monday-Friday.
Swimmers will need to complete a registration form on their first day, but there is no membership commitment. The cost per day for the program is $4 for YMCA members, $5 for potential members, and $3 for 2014 Jets team swimmers. Registration can be done on a daily, weekly or session basis, both onsite or online. Drop-ins are welcome.
