BUSTI - The jazz and blues duo of Davis & Eng will be performing a mix of swing and country jazz, blues and folk-rock tunes Saturday from 7-9 p.m. at the Busti Gazebo.
Steve Eng and Mark Davis are two longtime friends and musicians from the Jamestown area. Eng has vocal duties and plays acoustic and electric guitars. Davis plays the upright electric bass.
They have combined musical experience of over 90 years and have performed professionally in various country, folk, rock, jazz and bluegrass bands throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York.
Eng began his musical career in the late 1960s as a jazz bassist, guitarist and banjo picker in Pennsylvania before moving to New York in the late 1990s. Among his talents on guitar, Eng is a finger-style guitarist who has won several competitions in past years. He also is a guitar instructor in Jamestown. Past bands he has played with include The Shade, Whiskey Spring Boys, Ridgerunners, Sand Creek and China Phrog. He is also a current member of Old Dawg Bluegrass.
Davis began his musical career playing organ and violin in high school. He played electric keyboard and banjo in the country-rock band, Thunder Road. He has played the upright bass with bluegrass bands Wind River, The Carroll County Car Strippers and Thoroughbred. Mark is also a current member of Old Dawg Bluegrass.
The concert is sponsored by the Busti Hamlet Development Association and the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. In the event of rain, the concert will be held at the pavilion located adjacent to the Busti Mill.
