Clifton E. Bailey, 74, of Jamestown passed away Saturday (July 12, 2014) in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, in Erie, Pa.
He was born June 24, 1940 in Westfield, N.Y., the son of the late Clifton D. and Ellen Records Bailey.
Clifton was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1962 as an aviation ordnance mechanic. He was a Jamestown Police Officer for 20 years before retiring in 1984. He then became a United States Postal Service Rural Carrier until his retirement in 1999.
He enjoyed television, especially The History Channel, as well as western and war movies. Clifton lived life on his terms, and loved his family and his dog Gigi. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Norma G. Foster Bailey, whom he married Feb. 7, 1968 in Kennedy; a son, Timothy D. Bailey of New York City; a daughter, Denise Herud of Clarence, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Linda Gagliano; six step-grandchildren: Timothy, Travis and Leigh Ann Eklund of Frewsburg; Scott, Mark, and Daniel Gould of Jamestown; and three stepgreatgrandchildren: Deacon Gould, Kaitlin and Lily Eklund.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his stepfather LaVerne Carlson (1998); three stepchildren: Scott Gould (2008), Gary Gould (2011) and Julie Wahlstrom (2012); a brother, Michael O. Bailey (2009); and a son-in-law, Lester Eklund (March 2014).
Per his wishes, visitation will not be observed.
