Lake View Cemetery will hold the second of its free summer tours on Tuesday, July 22.
Kathleen Crocker and Jane Currie, local authors and historians, will lead a tour based on their latest book "Legendary Locals of the Chautauqua Lake Region." The tour will focus on local men and women who have had a lasting effect on the history of the region. Crocker and Currie have authored a number of books detailing the history of Jamestown and Chautauqua County. There will be a limited number of copies of "Legendary Locals of the Chautauqua Lake Region" available for sale. The authors will be happy to sign all books.
The tour will begin at the cemetery office at the corner of Buffalo Street and Lakeview Avenue at 6 p.m. with an opportunity to meet and greet the authors and have books signed. At 6:30 p.m. the walking tour will begin and last 60 to 90 minutes. Many of the tour stops will be near paved roads; however there may be some "off-road" excursions. Those attending should wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. The tours are free of charge. Donations will be accepted.
