Richard E. Griswold, 73, of Bailey Hill Road, Clymer, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at his home.
He was born May 15, 1941, in Sherman, the son of the late Ralph and Marie Griswold.
Dick owned and operated a dairy farm from 1964 to the present. He enjoyed raising red and white Holsteins and mowing hay. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed visiting with longtime friends and hunting buddies. He especially liked taking long rides. In earlier days, he enjoyed hunting, his dogs, raising roosters, driving horses, bowling and square dances. He had nicknames for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard served on the Sherman school board and Farmers Mill Board.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Ina Near Griswold; their four children: Mark Griswold, Lynn Griswold, Jesse (Teresa) Griswold, and Deanna (Robert) Crossley; seven grandchildren: Greg Griswold, Julie (John) Abel, Maureen Gray, Tiffany Ball, Tylor (Melissa) Griswold, and Hailey and Hanna Crossley; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; and is survived by three brothers and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at Spitzer Funeral Home, 135 Miller St., Sherman, N.Y., with the Rev. Roger Westley, pastor of the Sherman Community Church, officiating.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Findley Lake Fire Department or Stanley Hose Company or the Sherman Community Church.
