Frederick E. Barden, 81, of Jamestown, N.Y., died on Saturday, June 21, 2014, after a brief illness.
Born in Sayre, N.Y. to the late James Arthur and Mary Elizabeth (Adams) Barden, he had been a resident of Jamestown for the past 17 years, and was the husband of Virginia M. (nee Swanson) Barden who died in October 2010, and grandfather of the late Matthew Tidd and Alicia Krzak.
Mr. Barden was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He had been employed as circulation director for The Buffalo News for over 25 years, retiring in 1988.
He is survived by five children: David (Wende Richmond) Tidd of the city of Tonawanda, Linda (Donald) Kmack of Williamsville, N.Y., Deborah (Larry) Krzak of Lubbock, Texas, James (Susan) Tidd of Cheektowaga, N.Y., and Kim Pacifico of the town of Tonawanda; a sister, Dorothy (late Robert) Ridley of Virginia; and also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family will be present on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad streets), in the city of Tonawanda.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Timothy's R.C. Church, 565 E. Park Drive in the town of Tonawanda.
Entombment will be in Ascension Chapel Mausoleum at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Tonawanda.
