Margaret E. Dornan, 90, of Humphrey, N.Y., died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Gerry, N.Y.
Born Nov. 28, 1923, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Eleanor Smith Hope. She was married on July 19, 1943 to James Dornan, who survives.
She was a member of the Humphrey Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and the president of the Ladies Missionary Society. She also worked on the Board of Elections for the town of Humphrey.
Margaret enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and birdwatching.
Surviving besides her husband are: two daughters: Cynthia (Daniel) Geigert, Jamestown, N.Y., and Robin Weidt, Sparks, Nev.; two sons: Clyde (Diane) Dornan, Salamanca, N.Y., and Richard Dornan, Humphrey, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; two sisters: Eleanor Edwards, Arcade, N.Y., and Esther (William) Forniss, Rushford, N.Y,; one brother, Robert Hope, Rushford, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, James Russell Dornan.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y., on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Joshua Freundschuh, pastor of Humphrey Baptist Church, presiding.
Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, N.Y.
