To the Readers' Forum:
In January, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I have been battling the disease with chemotherapy treatments for the past five months. On May 18, a truly wonderful group of people put together one amazing benefit for me. I want to start by thanking this wonderful group of people for your time, all of your hard work and dedication. This day would not have been possible without each and everyone of you. You will all forever be in my heart.
The benefit would not have been possible without all of our wonderful family and friends who helped that day as well. From selling tickets to serving food and beverages. I would like to thank each of you for donating your time and doing such an amazing job.
While I would like to name each of you individually, I want to give out a huge thank you for all of the donations that were made by family, friends, complete strangers and businesses here locally to as far away as North Carolina and Arizona. The number of wonderful donations that came in for the Chinese and live auctions was absolutely amazing.
Finally I would like to give a shout out to all of the bands who donated their time and amazing talents. Thank you so much Pete Dauphin, Cindy Haight, Brian Hanna and Scott Horton, Common Ground and the Porcelain Bus Drivers! You guys rocked!
May 18 was a very overwhelming and humbling experience. I can't even begin to express my appreciation and gratitude to my family, friends and the community for your love, kind words and overwhelming support over these past few months. People can say what they want about our little town, but I am truly blessed to call this place my home. Thank you so much ''Team Jess'' for ''cowboying up and booting out cancer!''
