HAMMETT, Pa. - Sunday at Eriez Speedway will be the annual Kids' Night, which includes bicycle give-a-ways for kids of all ages.
The on-track action will be hot as points races in every division heat up as the halfway point of the season approaches.
Defending Jay's Auto Wrecking Super Late Models champion Rob Blair has won twice in the young season and holds a 102-point edge over former champion Chris Hackett, winless so far in the current campaign. Darrell Bossard, also winless this season, is 37 points back in third. Andy Boozel is fourth with Max Blair and Mike Knight in fifth and sixth, both with featured wins.
Matt Latta, with one win this season, leads the Bonnell Collision Center FASTRAK Late Models standings over former champion Kyle Zimmerman by only 10 points. Bobby Rohrer, looking for his first-ever Crate Late Model feature win, is another 17 points back of Zimmerman. Blair has three wins in the season but due to missing a week, is back in the fifth spot. Defending champion Chad Wright has one win. but several more finishes have him relegated to seventh in points, one spot ahead of single winner Scott Gurdak.
Former champion Dave Hess, without a win this season, leads four-time former champion Joel Watson by 23-points in the season long chase. 2009 champion John Boyd is third, 154 points back of Watson. Defending champion Rich Michael, the winner last week, is back in seventh, even with two wins this season.
Two time winner Nate Short leads two time winner Chris McGuire in Conway & O'Malley Limited Late Models competition by 43 markers. Defending champion Ryan Scott is currently third. Other winners this season include Kelly Frederes and Chris Ottaway, now fourth and fifth in points.
With four wins this season, Brandon Groters is dominating the Waterford Hotel Street Stocks competition. Only former champion Chris Withers has defeated the leader in weekly racing. Shaun Hooks won when the Penn-Ohio Street Stocks visited and Groters did not compete. A massive 238-point lead this early in the season over Jimmy Kennerknecht will be difficult to close. The race for the runner-up spot is wide open too as Mark Thompson trails Kennerknecht by another seventy points.
Jason Brightman, who won his first feature earlier this summer, currently leads the Kandy's Gentleman's Club Challengers points chase over winless Travis Darling and three time winner Matt Marcy.
Admission for all regular racing weekends is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, children 6-15 $6, under 6 free.
