Helen Marie Winship Finch, 89, of Randolph, N.Y., died Thursday (June 26, 2014), in WCA Hospital.
She was born April 7, 1925, in Salamanca, N.Y., the daughter of the late Mark and Marie Ellis Winship.
Helen was a graduate of Little Valley Central School, and in earlier years worked at the Randolph Children's Home in the kitchen.
Helen served faithfully as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was baptized on Sept. 9, 1961, in Dunkirk, N.Y., in Lake Erie. She was bold and zealous in her ministry and was respected for her firm determination to uphold her dedication to Jehovah.
Helen was a hard worker and she enjoyed it when anyone would stop in and visit her. She loved to be outdoors and enjoyed her flowers and birds.
Surviving are her four daughters: Elaine Meacham of Falconer, Shannon (Quin) Harris of Jamestown, Colleen (Dave) Gustafson of Jamestown, and Mary Lou Byers of Lakewood; a daughter-in-law that she loved like a daughter, Paula Finch; and six sons: Donald (Lorraine) Finch of Falconer, Joseph Finch of Conewango, Dennis Finch of Falconer, Patrick (Charlotte) Finch of Falconer, Richard (Roberta) Finch of Conewango, and David Finch of Cuba. She had 37 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She had a special place in her heart for all her children and had a great love for all of her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Finch, whom she married May 12, 1944, in Kentucky, and who died July 17, 2007.
Visitation will not be observed.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday June 29, 2014 at the Conewango Congregation of The Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witnesses, Route 62 Conewango Valley, N.Y. Elder Steve Hauck will officiate.
Memorials may be donated to Conewango Kingdom Hall or the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
