M. Richard Jankoski, 93, of 15 Hilldale Ave., died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
A lifelong Jamestown resident, he was born Aug. 12, 1920, a son of the late John and Hedwig Switalski Jankoski.
He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1938, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed by Dowcraft as a manager.
He was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a member of the Elks Club and former member of Moon Brook Country Club and the War Vets.
He and his wife, Evelyn enjoyed many years of retirement as they shared a passion for good cooking and beautiful gardens. He was an avid golfer and en-joyed sharing stories on the 19th hole.
Surviving are stepchildren: Sam (Antoinette) Marchiando of Rochester, N.Y., Marcia Greenwood of Houston, Texas, Tim (Carol) Marchiando of Cape Coral, Fla., and Jeanne Long of Greenhurst; 15 grandchildren: Robert, Daniel, Thomas and Joseph Marchiando, Debbie Hammond, Scott, Todd, Gary and Jason Greenwood, Gary and Shelly Holland, Kari Auer, Billie Jean Meyers, Anita Libby and Tammy Marchiando; several great-grandchildren; and a great friend, Richard Andzel of Jamestown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Mills Jankoski, whom he married Aug. 11, 1963, and who died May 11, 2000; grandsons: Richard and Ronald Holland and Timothy Mar-chiando; and a sister, Romaine Jankoski.
A private graveside service will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will not be observed.
