Fioravante "Frank" Scala, 86, of 55 Sanford Drive, Jamestown, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, in WCA Hospital.
He was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Marigliano, Italy, the son of the late Pasquale and Maria Rosa Copelli Scala.
Prior to retirement in 1989, he was employed at Adanlock and previously at Jamestown Malleable Iron for 17 years. Frank was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church, and an avid gardener. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Carmela Miele Scala, whom he married Oct. 19, 1970; a daughter, Rosemary (Tim) Stam and two grandchildren: Connor Stam and Carter Stam, all of Jamestown; two sisters: Stella Scala and Rosetta Scala, both of Italy; a sister-in-law, Joann Miele of Jamestown; a niece, Grace (Mike) Anderson of Jamestown; two nephews: Anthony (Mary) Miele of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Aldo (Laura) Miele of Mayville; and several more nieces and nephews in Italy and Argentina.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Maria Scala; three brothers: Ernesto, Sebastian and Mario Scala; and a brother-in-law, Matt Miele.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be celebrant.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in the Lind Funeral Home.
