Bertha Ruth Braley, 84, of 1 N. Main St., Russell, Pa., formerly of Jamestown, died at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday (June 10, 2014), at her residence.
She was born in Jamestown on Nov. 20, 1929, the daughter of Ralph and Grace Patton Whitcomb.
Ruth enjoyed being with her family and especially the babies. She also loved to dance, play pool in the Jamestown women's league and crocheting.
She is survived by her children: Jack Braley, Jamestown, Harriett Willett, Falconer, Nancy Hobbs, Rogers, Ark., Thomas Braley, Pine Bluff, Ariz., Lorraine Bair, Russell, Pa.; 29 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters: Jean Olson, Jamestown, and Nella Logan, Ashtabula, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Whitcomb, Ashtabula, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert L. Braley, whom she married on March 20, 1949, in Ashville, and who died on March 16, 1992; by a son, Ronald Braley; and a brother, Royce Whitcomb.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Fentonville Cemetery. The Rev. Dayle Keefer, pastor of Fluvanna Community Church, will officiate.
Visitation will not be observed.
