BLOCKVILLE - The Harmony Historical Society will meet on Tuesday, June 17, at 6 p.m. for a dinner meeting. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. Coffee and a cold beverage will be provided.
Following dinner, there will be a time of show and tell. Members are asked to bring a family heirloom to show and talk about. It can be an artifact, photo or document.
Recently, the society met for a business meeting. Fourteen members attended the meeting. The minutes from the previous meeting and the treasurer's report were read and accepted. The society held a "work bee" on May 31 at 9 a.m. Many people attended.
Buildings were swept out and yard work was done.
A huge thank you is sent out to all who participated.
Progress is being made on the improved library.
Members of the Quilters showed the raffle quilt and also an embroidered quilt that will be available at the festival through a silent bid auction.
The society is seeking vendors and demonstrators for the festival to be held Oct. 4-5. If you are interested in either, contact a member of the society.
The society met on May 20 for a dinner meeting.
Following dinner, local resident, Roe-Anne Faulkner shared her extensive knowledge and New York Yankees baseball and a Yogi Berra memorabilia collection.
The society holds meetings from April through December each year.
They meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. for a business meeting and on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. for a dinner meeting. Programs follow at 7 p.m. The Harmony Historical Society is located on Open Meadows Road in Blockville.
