Janet S. Lopez (Hull), 85, formerly of Jamestown, passed away Friday (June 6, 2014), in the Nursing Pavilion, Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford, Pa.
She was born Dec. 1, 1928, in Tupper Lake, N.Y., the daughter of the late Henry and Leah Gagnier Hull.
Janet was a graduate of the Rosarian Academy High School in West Palm Beach, Fla., and graduated from Syracuse University in nursing. In earlier years, she was employed as a psychiatric nurse at the Syracuse Psychiatric Hospital.
She had been an active member of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church of Jamestown. Janet enjoyed cooking, reading, needlework, and organic gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen M.( Darwin) Nowak of Allegany; two sons: Mark J. (Vilma) Lopez of Syracuse, N.Y., and John Henry (Pam) Lopez of Clarence, N.Y.; nine grandchildren: Matthew (Becky) Lopez, Joel Lopez, Rachael Lopez, Cassandra Nowak, Kristia (Josh) Kelsey, Creighton Nowak, Andrew Lopez, Ryan Lopez and Rebecca Lopez; three great-grandchildren: Aylah Boutwell, Nolan Kelsey and Ashlyn Kelsey.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jay J. Lopez, whom she married July 21, 1956, in St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Syracuse, and who died Aug. 10, 2003.
Visitation will not be observed. A private memorial service will be held in Weedsport, N.Y., at the convenience of the family.
