David William Johnson, 62, of Houston, Texas, died recently at his residence.
He was born Jan. 26, 1952, in Jamestown, a son of the late Phillip Johnson and Virginia Carlson Johnson Atkins; and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Johnson and Mrs. Loletta Carlson.
He attended Southwestern Central School through most of his 10th-grade year and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1970.
David enjoyed his career as a carpenter and found great satisfaction working in the historic buildings of downtown Houston. He also enjoyed helping neighbors with limited incomes to complete their home improvements.
Surviving is his son, Jessie Johnson of Austin, Texas; aunts: Kay Crossley of Jamestown and June Carlson of Bushnell, Fla.; uncle, James (Barbara) Johnson of Jamestown; two brothers: Steven (Anne) Johnson of Lafayette, La. and Michael (Evelyn) Johnson of Lantana, Fla.; a sister, Mara (Brad) Johnson of Sherman; nieces and nephews: Stephanie, Ryan, Andrew, Jesse and Michelle Johnson, Tiffany Green, Brandon Winston, Nicholas and Michael Fera; and cousins: Carol (Mark) Hassenberg, Jerry (Julie) Stanton, Tom (Nancy) Stanton, John (Liz) Crossley, David (Janet) Crossley, Lori (Leo) Jones, Bonnie (Paul) Quesenberry, Danny Johnson, Dawn (Steve) Carutis, Cynthia (David) Zeuch, Jennifer Johnson, Bev (Jerry) Daniels and Doug (Linda) Carlson.
Interment of ashes will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery at a later date.
