CATTARAUGUS, N.Y. Viola F. Ayrhart, 92, of Scott Street, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Lake Shore Hospital.
She was born July 23, 1921, in East Otto, N.Y., the daughter of the late Galen and Florence (Clark) Flood.
On June 27, 1941, she married William Ayrhart, who predeceased her on Nov. 10, 1995.
Mrs. Ayrhart attended Cattaraugus High School, and had worked at Peter Cooper Corp. in Gowanda during World War II. She was self-employed until her retirement.
She was a member of the Cattaraugus United Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a Boy Scout den mother and a member of the Little Valley American Legion Auxillary. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and caring for and baby sitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ayrhart is survived by a son, James (Paula) Ayrhart of Great Valley, N.Y.; a daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Young of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Kimberly (Rick) Hintz of East Otto, N.Y., Keith (Colleen) Young of Cattaraugus, N.Y., and Katrina (Eric) O'Stricker and Sarah Ayhart, both of Great Valley; and four great-grandchildren: Hunter and Colby O'Stricker and Jason and Matthew Young; several nieces and nephews including Rick (Barb) Flood of Frewsburg, N.Y.; and great-nephew. Ricky Flood.
Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a son, Thomas Ayrhart in 1967; and three brothers: Marcus, Burton and Harold Flood.
Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., Lit-tle Valley, N.Y., on Sunday, June 8, 2014, from 4-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Jones, officiating.
Burial will be in Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus, N.Y.
