Josephine Caroline Runfola, 98, of Homosassa, Fla., passed away on Jan. 7, 2014, at Crystal River Health and Rehab Center in Crystal River, Fla.
A native of Falconer, N.Y., she was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Aug. 16, 1915, to Michael and Frances (Gallodoro) Ribaudo, one of eight children.
Josephine moved to Florida in 2008 from Westminster, Md., where she resided near her grand-daughter, Stephanie Gereny.
She was the retired owner and operator of Jay's Beauty Shop in Falconer, N.Y.Mrs. Runfola was of the Roman Catholic faith, and is survived by her son, Philip Runfola (wife, Roberta) of Homosassa, Fla.; grandchildren: Stephanie (Bill) Gereny, Westminster, Md; Tracy (Scott) Tressler, Arlington, Va.; twin great-grandsons: Cole and Nick Tressler, Arlington, Va.; and a sister, Jenny Romyak, Buffalo, N.Y.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ross Runfola, at his time of death in 1983, as well as siblings: Frances, Joseph, Rose, Fannie, Mary and Lena.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday (June 7, 2014) in Our Lady of Lore-to Catholic Church, Falconer, N.Y. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, N.Y.
The family will receive friends from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
