GREENSBORO, N.C. -Vera May Nobbs Parry, 94, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at home.
Daughter of the late James Herbert Nobbs and Esther Nobbs (White), Vera May Nobbs was born in London, England on Oct. 3, 1919. She married an American soldier, William Tuthill Parry, stationed in London during World War II, and immigrated to the United States in 1946. She was an orthoptic technician in Buffalo, N.Y., for 24 years, and had a passion for reading, gardening, history, and antiques.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: James Herbert, William John, Reginald Kenneth and Arthur Earnest; and her sisters: Alice Annie, Lillian Florence, Doris, Victoria, and Lydia Esther.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Parry Gregorio; grandson, James Alan Gregorio, grand- daughter-in-law, Caroline Sparrow Gregorio and great-granddaughters: Isabella Parry Gregorio and Sarah Grace Webster Gregorio, all of Greensboro, N.C.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Forbis & Dick, North Elm Street Chapel. Visitation will follow after the service.
